The Opportunity

John Flynn Private Hospital is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our Evening and Night Float Team. Multiple part-time and casual opportunities available.

Shift options:

  • Evening Float: 1600–2200
  • Night Float: 2200–0600 or 2300–0700

About the Role

Be part of a team that supports every ward across the hospital during our evening and night shifts. Our Float RNs play a crucial role in strengthening staffing after hours, ensuring patients continue to receive consistent, high‑quality care when demand is high and resources need to be agile.

As a Float RN, you will work across multiple clinical areas, stepping in wherever your support is needed most. You may not be allocated to a single ward for the duration of your shift; instead, you’ll move between departments to provide timely, responsive care. This may include covering meal breaks, assisting with patient transfers, or delivering hands‑on clinical support. Throughout each shift, the Hospital Coordinator will guide your allocation to ensure safe staffing and smooth patient flow across the hospital.

This role is ideal for nurses who enjoy autonomy, variety and the opportunity to broaden their clinical experience. While the Float Team operates during both evening and night shifts, the majority of shifts are night shifts, so strong availability for night duty is essential.

If you are looking for a role that offers flexibility, professional variety and the chance to support exceptional care across the hospital, we’d love to welcome you to our team.

About You
To succeed in this role you will bring a strong clinical skillset with a passion for high-quality patient care.  You will have exceptional customer service, confident communication and interpersonal skills.  Key to this role will be experience in an acute general medical/surgical environment.

You will also demonstrate.

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • Peripheral IV cannulation skills
  • PICC and CVC competent
  • IDC (male/female) skills
  • Nasogastric insertion and management skills
  • Cardiology experience (rhythm interpretation) - desirable
  • Portacath access ability – desirable
