Graduate Midwifery Facilitator | Part-time 64hrs
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced and motivated midwives to undertake the role of Graduate Midwifery Facilitator. This role plays a key part in supporting graduate midwives as they transition into clinical practice, ensuring a safe, supportive and high-quality learning environment
Principal Responsibilities to include (but not limited to)
- Providing clinical facilitation, support and guidance to the Graduate Midwives within the maternity service
- Supporting graduates to consolidate clinical skills, critical thinking and professional confidence in line with NMBA standards for practice
- Acting as a role model for professional midwifery practice, clinical excellence and respectful workplace behaviours
- Providing timely feedback, coaching and education to graduate midwives in the clinical environment
- Contributing to assessment processes, documentation and performance reviews
- Liaising with the Midwife Unit Manager, Clinical Midwifery Specialists, Specialist Staff Development Midwives and the Graduate Program Coordinator to ensure consistent support and communication
- Promoting patient safety, quality care and adherence to policies, procedures and clinical guidelines
What we are looking for
- Registered Midwife with current AHPRA registration (no restrictions)
- Demonstrated clinical experience ≥ 5 years
- Completion of FSEP Level 3
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support, mentor and coach graduate midwives
- Sound clinical knowledge and the ability to translate this into supportive, evidence-based practice
- Demonstrated commitment to education, professional development and graduate support
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- Previous experience in a facilitation, preceptorship, education or mentoring role
- Completion of preceptorship program or equivalent
- Interest in contributing to ongoing improvement of graduate programs and education frameworks
- Manual Handling/Basic Life support/Medication assessor competence.
