As our Hospital Access Manager, you'll be responsible for patient flow at Joondalup Health Campus! You will ensure every patient's journey is safe, smooth, and happens just when it should.
Leading our Patient Flow team, After Hours Managers and the Staffing Office, you'll be the go-to person for smooth access and escalating any concerns.

Key Responsibilities: Making a Real Difference
Patient Flow and Bed Management: Orchestrating seamless journeys
- Lead and implement innovative hospital-wide patient flow strategies that elevate the patient experience.
- Master the art of bed capacity management, from daily oversight to future demand forecasting and swift escalation.
- Collaborate closely with our Emergency Department, Wards, Theatres, Maternity, and Executive teams to forge seamless access and discharge pathways.
- Dive deep into flow KPIs like access block, ED LOS, DNW, length of stay, and discharge performance, identifying opportunities for enhancement.
- Step up as the senior escalation point to tackle capacity challenges, uniting multidisciplinary teams to find effective solutions.
- Lead and contribute to vital discussions in daily operational huddles, access meetings, and surge planning committees.
After Hours Manager (AHM) Leadership: Guiding our after-hours heroes
- Inspire and mentor the Patient Flow & After-Hours Manager team, providing clear professional leadership and direction.
- Uphold consistent decision-making and rigorous clinical governance standards throughout all after-hours operations.
- Cultivate strong, clear communication channels connecting our business-hours operations with our after-hours leadership.
- Oversee critical incident management, risk escalation, and safety responses beyond standard working hours.
- Ensure the readiness of our patient flow & after-hours workforce through comprehensive training, competency checks, and robust emergency preparedness.

What You'll Bring to the Team (Selection Criteria):
Essential Attributes:
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration, bringing a wealth of clinical and operational experience from an acute hospital setting.
- You will possess demonstrated expertise in patient flow management, bed capacity planning, or hospital operations – you know how to keep things moving smoothly.
- You have a proven record of senior leadership, with a proven ability to inspire and guide multidisciplinary teams towards shared success.
- You are experienced in interpreting data and using metrics to inform crucial decisions and drive improvements.
- You will have a solid understanding of relevant legislation, industrial frameworks, and clinical governance principles.
Desirable Qualities
- Previous experience in a management position.
- Experience in staffing/rostering operations.
- Postgraduate qualifications in management, leadership, health administration or related field.
- Experience in service redesign or process improvement methodologies (e.g., LEAN).Top of Form
