The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to provide clinical leadership across a diverse maternity service and play a key role in shaping, high-quality, woman-centred care for our community. Working across both inpatient and outpatient settings, the successful applicant will support and lead our midwifery teams while contributing to the ongoing development and strengthening of our service.

Principal Responsibilities to include (but not limited to):

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership across inpatient and outpatient maternity services
  • Support the day-to-day coordination of services including Antenatal Clinic (ANC), Birth Suite, Antenatal/Postnatal ward, Obstetric Home Visiting Service (OHVS) and Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinics
  • Provide visible leadership and support to midwifery staff, promoting a positive, collaborative team culture
  • Contribute to workforce coordination, rostering oversight and resource allocation to support safe service delivery
  • Support the management of clinical risk, incidents and performance concerns in line with organisational policies
  • Promote evidence-based practice and participate in quality improvement initiatives within maternity services
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support safe, high quality and woman-centered care
  • Support staff development through mentoring, coaching and clinical leadership
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of maternity services

 

About You 

You will be a trained nurse with exceptional customer service, confident communication, and strong interpersonal skills. You will also possess:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife
  • Minimum of 5 years’ midwifery experience (essential)
  • A confident and approachable midwifery leader who supports and develops staff while maintaining a strong focus on safe, high-quality care
  • Demonstrated clinical experience across maternity services
  • Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to support staff through clinical challenges and operational demands
  • Commitment to fostering a positive team culture and collaborative multidisciplinary relationships
  • Sound understanding of clinical governance, risk management and quality improvement processes
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within the maternity services (desirable)
  • Experience in supporting performance management, clinical review or service improvement initiatives (desirable)
  • Postgraduate qualifications in midwifery, leadership, management or a related field (highly desirable)

The Hospital

Requirements

  • Must provide or complete a National Police Check conducted within the previous 12 months
