The Opportunity
Join Ramsay Health Care Australia and take on a pivotal role influencing how we partner with health funds and the public sector. As part of our Legal team, you’ll be a trusted advisor to the Payor Relations function, shaping key commercial and strategic decisions that directly support the delivery of high-quality healthcare nationwide. What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll act as a true business partner-delivering strategic, commercially focused legal advice while supporting complex contracting, regulatory and stakeholder matters across the Payor Relations function. Key accountabilities include:
- Partnering closely with the Payor Relations team to provide strategic legal advice across health funds and public contracting matters.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of agreements, including complex and business-critical contracts.
- Advising across regulatory, commercial, corporate, privacy, competition and dispute matters.
- Building strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders across the business, including hospital and corporate teams.
- Supporting the development and continuous uplift of legal risk management frameworks and strategies.
- Managing external legal counsel, including oversight of performance and cost.
- Contributing to the development of policies, templates and internal precedents.
- Providing practical legal input into key projects and initiatives to support informed decision-making.
- Mentoring and supporting junior team members where required.
What You’ll Bring
You’re a commercially astute legal professional with the ability to balance risk and outcomes, build strong relationships, and deliver clear, pragmatic advice within a complex and highly regulated environment.
Key skills and experience include:
- Admission as a solicitor in an Australian State or Territory.
- 8+ years’ post-admission experience in corporate/commercial law (top-tier/mid-tier and/or in-house).
- Strong experience across commercial contracting, regulatory frameworks and corporate law.
- An understanding of the healthcare landscape, particularly private health insurance (highly regarded).
- The ability to provide clear, concise and commercially focused legal advice.
- Strong stakeholder management capability, with the confidence to influence at senior levels.
- Excellent negotiation and legal drafting skills.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a broader team.
