The Opportunity

Join our dynamic payroll team as a motivated Payroll Officer to support our national operations. In this role, you will assist with the full payroll processing cycle, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Key responsibilities include resolving payroll issues and providing support to the team. You’ll also collaborate with HR, finance, and IT departments to streamline payroll operations and ensure accurate reporting. This position will be based in Melbourne - VIC Australia.

  • Assist in preparing high volume fortnightly payrolls for multiple locations.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries promptly and accurately via several different channels
  • Maintain and update payroll records and employee information in payroll systems
  • Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, Fair Work Act, and relevant awards
  • Undertake any additional duties as assigned

 

About you

To succeed in this role, you should have some payroll experience in a busy, fast-paced environment, a flexible attitude, and a commitment to delivering payroll on time. You'll also need to be good at building positive relationships within a friendly and supportive team.

 

Key skills and experience you bring to the role include:

  • At least 3 years end to end payroll experience
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience with Chris 21 payroll
  • Strong understanding of industrial instruments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of working effectively both as part of a team and independently when needed.
  • Skilled in planning, coordinating, and prioritising multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a commitment to excellence.
  • Demonstrated respect for privacy and confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory issues related to PAYG tax, payroll tax, superannuation, workers' compensation, salary packaging, and FBT.
  • Have prior experience working in a med /large faced paced high volume business
