About the Role
The Clinical Nurse Specialist position in our cardiothoracic & Cardiology ward is an exciting and rare opportunity to join our established team.
We are a dynamic 24 bed unit who care for patient with varying complexities of cardiology and cardiothoracic care needs.
Procedures managed on the ward include:
- Pre and postoperative coronary angiograms +/- stents, PPM's, ICD's, EPS +/- ablations, PVI.
- Structural heart procedures- TAVI, LAAO, PFO & ASD closures, Mitra clips.
- CABG, Valve replacements/ repairs, PEARS procedures.
- VATS +/- anatomical resections, pleurodesis, biopsies.
As the unit continues to expand and thrive, we are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced RN/ CNS to join the team. Provide Mentoring and education of their colleagues and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will perform duties with the support and guidance of the Department Manager, Team and Shift Leaders to ensure a high level of quality patient care is delivered in line with the care values and strategic direction of the Hospital and Ramsay Health Care.
About You
Essential Criteria:
- Current registration with the AHPRA
- Minimum 5 years recent cardiothoracic experience working in a ward/ unit of this specialty.
- Ability to interpret complex ECG’s and escalate clinical needs accordingly.
- Extensive experience in managing and teaching cardiac pacing.
- Confidence in troubleshooting and escalating the complex needs of the cardiothoracic patient.
- A passion for mentoring and educating the nursing staff working within the cardiothoracic setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
Desirable Criteria:
- Post graduate qualifications in Critical Care (Cardiothoracic) or working towards
- CALS qualified.
