The Opportunity

As an Orthopaedic Technician, you will play a key role within the clinical team by assisting theatre staff in preparing the operating room for orthopaedic procedures. You’ll ensure all preparations are carried out safely and efficiently, while maintaining patient dignity and adhering to hospital protocols, legislative standards, and best practice guidelines."

 

Your role will also involve, but is not limited to;

  • Prepare the operating theatre and equipment for each surgical procedure.
  • Assist nursing and medical staff with the positioning of patients on the operating table.
  • Connect surgical equipment for patients under direction of medical/nursing staff.
  • Troubleshoot any issues that may arise during surgery in regards to orthopaedic equipment.
  • Liaise with medical/nursing staff in relation to equipment required for scheduled and emergency procedures.
  • Check and manage orthopaedic and other Loan/Consigned sets and implants from time of delivery to hospital to time of return to supplier.
  • Perform restocking and stock rotation as needed/requested.

 

Flexibility to work across a seven-day rotating roster, including morning, afternoon and evenings is critical for this role. 

 

About You

Liaise with Clinical Coordinator and Clinical Nurse, Orthopaedics as a resource for orthopaedic equipment and other technical equipment as requested. 

 

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Certificate III in Operating Theatre Technician Practice (or equivalent) or working towards - desirable
  • Recent relevant experience and understanding of issues associated with acute care / perioperative settings
  • Participate as a valued team member promoting and contributing to a supportive team environment.
  • Familiarity with the Operating Theatre environment and infection control principles associated.
  • Act as a resource for all Operating Theatre staff with regard to orthopaedic surgery.
  • Liaise with Orthopaedic Technician Team Leader and Clinical Nurse Manager in the implementation of new policies and procedures relevant to orthopaedic surgery.
  • Maintenance excellence in the delivery of patient care, through the development and provision of orthopaedic resources.

 

Candidates with prior experience in an Orthopaedic setting will be highly regarded. 

 

Remuneration: On offer is base hourly rate ranging from $39.90 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.
