About the Role
Position: Casual Stevedoring General Hand [Multiple Positions available]
This role is perfect for anyone seeking to enter the stevedoring industry or just wanting to earn some extra income. Whether you are a school leaver or you are semi-retired and looking for a slower pace, this could be the ideal job for you. As a general hand you will be trained to work on and alongside ships loading and unloading at your local port and you will also be given an opportunity to travel to earn extra money.
Location: Napier Port
Status: Start your stevedoring career at $41.20/hour on a casual basis.
Specific Responsibilities
No previous port experience is needed, as we will provide training. This role includes (but is not limited to) slinging logs, lashing/securing project cargo and other related tasks which will involve manual handling, marking logs, operating small wharf forklifts. Some heavy lifting is involved and we do work 12-hour shifts and candidates must be able to handle outdoor work.
Requirements:
- You need a valid NZ Drivers license.
- You need to have the right to work in New Zealand.
- You need to care about health and safety for yourself and others.
- You must be able to pass a Ministry of Justice check, ACC check and a drug and alcohol test [note, random drug and alcohol testing is compulsory].
