ABOUT THE ROLE
 
To support the Shift Managers in the TT Line Operations to manage the human and technical resources to ensure that costs are minimised, clients service requirements and safety, corporate, legal and contractual requirements are met.
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
 
1. Operational
  • Ensure professional communication of standards, expectations and procedures to the operational team through toolbox talks and training.
  • Selects, prepares and directs the use of appropriate equipment in a safe and productive manner that contributes to safe practices, damage prevention and productivity.
  • Under guidance of Shift Manager, will ensure that vessel is planned efficiently to maximise utilisation of deck space.
  • Ensure productivity of their shift is maximised by monitoring progress, identifying issues (e.g. tight stows, damage) or hazards and taking corrective action to rectify.
  • Ensure any issues (e.g. tight stows, damage) or hazards are reported to the Shift Manager.
  • Ensure that discharge & load operations are conducted in a safe & productive manner
  • Anticipate change of load plan due to operational issues and discuss with shift manager.
  • Ensure a high standard of timekeeping in the gangs under your control.
  • Ensure all radios issued are returned at the end of your shift.
  • Ensure employees have cleaned bolnas and utes, closed windows and parked correctly
  • Liaise with Shift Manager to coordinate tasks and resolve operational issues.
  • Communicate and liaise with TT Line in order to ensure performance requirements are achieved.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with employments terms (EA’s), OH&S and Environmental legislation and company policy and take necessary corrective action.
  • Resolve queries and issues raised by the workforce relating to policy and practice and elevate to the Shift Manager when appropriate.
2. Safety
  • Complete Near Miss reporting and Safety Observations including implementation of corrective actions.
  • Responsible for Terminal Tractor maintenance/tag out procedure and fault reporting.
  • Responsible for trestle maintenance/tag out procedure and fault reporting.
  • Assist with development of daily traffic management plans and ensure they are adhered to when moving around the facility.
  • Ensure employees under your control are strictly adhering to adhering to the vessel and yard speed limits.
  • Avoid taking Unjustifiable risks
  • Identify, assess and report all known and newly identified hazards and incidents in the workplace.
  • Implement effective risk controls – JSA’s completed for any operation outside SWM’s.
  • Participate in the monitoring, review and evaluation of implemented risk controls.
  • Stop work where there is an imminent danger and address – escalate to the appropriate manager as necessary.
  • Co-ordinate investigation and counter measures for all General Cargo Activities.
  • Avoid causing harm
  • Do not engage in bullying or harassment in the workplace
  • Engage in safe work practices
  • Treat fellow employees, contractors, clients and the public with respect.
  • Follow The Safety, Health and Environmental System
  • Follow the requirements of the SHEMS documentation including Rules, Procedures and Instructions.
  • Identify system short comings and opportunities for improvement.
  • Review and develop safety procedures and RA’s.
 
3. People
  • Communicate short, medium and long term goals for team leaders in respect to personnel, shift and facility objectives.
  • Develop and implement communication methods with Shift Managers and employees via meetings to ensure employees are kept up to date and promote a two way flow of information.
  • Have detailed knowledge of and ensure all site personnel are aware of and adhere to Qube policies are procedures.
  • Undertake counselling and disciplinary action where appropriate.
  • Identify training needs and implement with TT Line Manager.
 
4. Financial
  • Control costs to ensure budget targets are met.
  • Manage revenue against budget and ensure all revenue items are covered in vessel reporting to invoice clients.
  • Complete vessel KPI reports.
