ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary purpose of the SHS Manager is to drive the understanding and implementation of "Be Safe" behaviors across the business by assisting in the development and execution of SHSQ strategic and operational plans, managing and driving behavioral safety change across the business, and providing day-to-day support and advice to a variety of stakeholders.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the business unit complies with group SHSQ standards and statutory obligations by completing compliance audits and developing and executing action plans.
  • Support the growth of the QE Business through supporting tenders and subsequent implementation of SHSMS in new contracts.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach site SHS Advisors through regular site visits to ensure effective implementation of SHSMS on site.
  • Lead the performance evaluation and development planning of SHS Advisors with involvement from the operational managers.
  • Work closely with the Regional Operational Manager to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with the National SHS Manager and other SHS Manager for standardisation on the journey to "One Best Way."
  • Assist in the development and execution of projects to improve safety and environmental performance.
  • Develop and execute the audit program to ensure ISO45001, ISO14001 & ISO9001 certification is maintained by completing internal audits and working closely with sites to prepare them for certification and surveillance audits.
  • Collate reports that include incidents & safety statistics, recordable injuries, lead and lag indicators as required for Divisional and regional reporting.
  • Facilitate and conduct risk assessments and associated risk reduction initiatives.
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations using the preferred method of investigation (ICAM) and ensure investigations are entered into the online incident management system and monitored for completion.
  • Provide input to the National SHS Manager, recommending and facilitating system improvements and initiatives to ensure legal and statutory compliance by participating in management reviews of the SHSMS system.
  • Assist in providing SHS requirements for tender submissions as required.
  • Provide support to SHS Advisors on RTW and Injury Management.
  • Ensure a consistent approach to SHS risk, including tolerability and ALARP.
  • Participate in business planning and accountability processes to align SHSQ initiatives with overall business objectives and ensure effective implementation and monitoring of plans.
  • Travel: will include travel to sites in WA & NT

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS.
  • Lead auditor ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry (desirable).
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM).
  • Experience in the implementation and management of safety management systems.
  • Identification and implementation of effective SHS initiatives.
  • Ability to undertake large-scale risk assessments.
  • Ability to develop tactical and strategic plans to address safety issues.
  • Understanding of training principles and their application in addressing SHS issues.
