THE ROLE
The primary purpose of the Gear person role is to prepare and maintain all stevedoring lifting & rigging equipment gear to Australian Standards and Qube Policies. To maintain the equipment store in an orderly manner, to ensure that all stevedoring gear is issued and checked before and after use.

Specific Responsibilities:
- Maintain all lifting gear to Australian Standards / MO32 and Qube Policy - SHSMS-QH-11-PR-026.
- Review contractors and equipment purchases to ensure the most cost-effective pricing.
- Highlight and reduce all costs of waste in regard to continual damage of equipment and cargo gear
- Check all lifting gear and components for wear and damage prior to delivery to the operation and inspect all equipment returned to the gear store after use – all faults shall be recorded.
- All damaged equipment shall be tagged “Out of Service” isolated and contained until necessary repairs are made.
- Maintain an accurate gear register and inspection schedule internally and with third party service providers for auditing purposes
Qualifications & Experience
- Current drivers licence (C)
- Forklift OSH Certificate
- Project management experience
- Proven experience in equipment management, with a minimum of 3+ years in a leadership role
- Strong understanding of equipment procurement, maintenance, and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial management, and cost control.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and lead cross-functional teams
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Intermediate Rigging
- Forklift OSH certificate
