Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of the Diesel Mechanic is to service, inspection and repair of Qube mobile machinery and ancillary equipment (owned, partially owned, hired and/or leased to Qube).
Specific Responsibilities
- Maintain high productivity levels and consistently uphold an “on time, in full” work ethic.
- Carry out mechanical and general workshop duties as directed by Senior Operations or Supervisory staff.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment, with all tools properly stored after use, while adhering to all workplace health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Present for work in a clean and professional manner, and accurately record all assigned tasks as required.
- Complete and submit all worksheets at the end of each shift.
- Provide support for unplanned maintenance and equipment breakdowns outside of standard business hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends, as needed.
- Obtain appropriate Work Orders before commencing any task, or complete a Work Order Request Form for emergency or unscheduled work.
- Assess and identify all required parts before starting a job to avoid unnecessary delays.
- Notify your direct report when major parts are needed so they can coordinate with the purchasing officer or line manager.
- Complete Repair Requests with detailed and accurate information, including your full name.
- Always apply personal danger locks when working on any vehicle or equipment.
- Strictly follow all Safe Working Instructions (SWIs).
- Comply with all road safety regulations and site-specific requirements.
- Immediately report any incidents or accidents to your direct supervisor.
Qualifications/Experience Required
- Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic trade certificate
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role
- Experience in mobile plant equipment. Heavy Vehicle mobile mining equipment preferred
- Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people
- Sound skills using Microsoft Office and Excel
- Ability to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution
- A High Risk Forklift Licence
- AUR31112 Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- Attention to detail with good hand eye co-ordination
- Strong communication skills including effective listening skills
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work effectively in a demanding environment
- Deliver effective mechanical decisions to ensure mobile machinery, reliability and operability
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable Commonwealth/State Safety and Environmental legislation and standards
