ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary purpose of the Maintenance Supervisor is to effectively manage the asset repairs, maintenance and servicing schedules to provide the maximum number of mechanically sound assets possible to meet the organisations production requirements.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the fleet maintenance, including efficient and effective utilization of staff, financial, information and resources
  • Develops and maintains the fleet maintenance business plan in line with branch and corporate business objectives
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of strategies, policies and systems to support Service Manager
  • Manage a team of mechanics and engineers
  • Monitor and mentor apprentices to ensure they are adequately trained and signed off to reach their qualifications
  • Communicate with Operators and site supervisors to plan routine and preventative maintenance and manage breakdowns
  • Develop procurement plans to ensure ongoing supply of services, parts and consumables essential to meet the requirements of scheduled maintenance and unplanned repairs
  • Establishes and maintains supplier relationships and monitors contractor performance
  • Interrogate and sign off on commercial invoices, follow up on discrepancies and arrange appropriate credits
  • Monitors and reports on progress of fleet maintenance programs in relation to budgets, delivery time lines and services as required by the Service Manager
  • Provide a weekly maintenance/service report to the Service Manager
  • Ensures health and safety regulations are adhered to and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Promote safe work environments by conducting safety audits, attending monthly safety committee meetings and meeting with individual staff members
  • Meet all the SHS KPI obligations to ensure staff safety, including risk assessments & safety engagements.
  • Recommend capital expenditures for acquisitions of new equipment and machinery major component replacement in order to increase efficiency and services
  • Prepare management recommendations, such as proposed changes to scheduling and the daily running of the workshop and the functioning of the store
  • Analyse expenditures and other financial information in order to develop plans, policies and budgets for increasing profits improvements
  • Manage fleet software data base records, entering kms, repairs, servicing, P/O, manuals
  • Manage the daily weekly, monthly spend to meet workshop budget
  • Take good care and maintenance of company equipment ensuring all equipment is compliant and in good working order with appropriate training and instruction to safely use specialized tooling
  • Manage staff fatigue and overtime
  • Undertake disciplinary procedures as required

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Hold a relevant trade qualification
  • Desirable high-risk license for forklift
  • Relevant experience in a similar position
