About the role

The Offshore Material Controller is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all offshore material handling activities, ensuring efficient and compliant logistics support to operations. This role leads the offshore stores team, including direct supervision of the Stores Assistant, and is accountable for maintaining accurate inventory records, coordinating material movements, and upholding safety and operational standards.

Specific Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Oversight

  • Lead and supervise the offshore stores team, ensuring clear direction, accountability, performance standards and continuous improvements.
  • Coordinate daily tasks and priorities, ensuring alignment with operational goals and compliance with company policies.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and task delegation to the Stores Assistants.
  • Monitor team performance, provide constructive feedback, and conduct regular evaluations to support professional development.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the stores function.
  • Facilitate training and onboarding of new staff, ensuring they understand their roles, responsibilities, and safety procedures.

Material Control & Logistics

  • Coordinate the receipt, inspection, storage, and issuance of materials offshore.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records.
  • Liaise with onshore logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery and backload of equipment and supplies.
  • Conduct regular and accurate stock takes to maintain optimal inventory levels and ensure alignment with operational requirements.
  • Record and reconcile stock discrepancies, investigating variances and reporting findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare and verify manifests and documentation for cargo movements in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure proper handling, labelling, and storage of hazardous and sensitive materials.
  • Maintain the Dangerous goods register and locations, considering inbound and outbound operations.
  • Liaise with Deck Services teams for container movements, packing/unpacking.
  • Conduct daily discussions with the Offshore Access Team Lead and OCR to ensure safe and effective discharging and backloading sequences of supply vessels.
  • Waste management - Ensure food and bin containers are rotated to meet demand correctly and waste segregation is encouraged and adhered to.
  • Coordinate with the Production team regarding chemical skids and Iso tank movements.
  • Ensure M041 and SDS documentation accompanies dangerous goods materials during backloading processes.
  • Manage infield (PSV) supply vessel movements and preparation of backloaded materials/containers.
  • Apply risk management principles to materials handling, ensuring all personnel understand responsibilities related to segregation, controls, including chemicals, waste, marine, and helicopter handling requirements.
  • Identify and report defects within the warehouse or storage system, including action points, due dates, and recommendations for improvement (e.g., incorrect bin locations, inappropriate storage or preservation methods, potentially unserviceable materials).

Essential Skills & Experience

  • MSIC, BOSIET with CA-EBS (5750), and Escape Chute Training (5770) or ability to obtain.
  • Offshore warehouse experience preferred. Candidates with relevant onshore experience in Oil and Gas who can demonstrate a strong understanding of offshore operations will also be considered.
  • Proficient in SAP, ideally with experience in MM modules, including shipping and manifesting
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills using SAP and Microsoft platforms.
  • Dangerous Goods by Air (IATA), sea (IMDG) certification required or ability to obtain.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the handling, storage, and transfer of dangerous goods, including segregation requirements.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise tasks based on operational criticality and demand
  • Able to describe general principles and key activities related to receiving, checking, issuing, transporting, packaging, kitting, storing, and preserving goods to required standards
  • Capable of working independently while leading a team across day and night shifts
  • Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills
  • Diploma or certificate/qualification in Supply Chain Management, Warehousing, or a related Logistics discipline (preferred).
  • Familiarity with emergency response procedures, such as spill response, first aid, and evacuation protocols
  • Experience and knowledge of Kabal manifesting (preferred)
