About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team as a Kiwifruit Maintenance Technician. This role is responsible for maintaining and servicing our fleet of kiwifruit loading machinery, including forklifts and palletized jiffy trucks. You will play a key part in ensuring operational efficiency during the busy kiwifruit season.
The ideal candidate will be a genuine self-starter who is highly organized, good at planning, and able to execute their own work effectively. In addition to kiwifruit machinery maintenance, other port machinery mechanical tasks will be expected as and when required.
Location: Tauranga Port
Status: Base $43.60 p/h Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Specific Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered machinery.
- Service and troubleshoot forklifts, palletized jiffy trucks, and other port related machinery.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
Who we're after:
- Level 4 Trade Certification in Diesel Mechanics (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in heavy machinery maintenance and repair.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and diesel engines.
- Experience working on electrical battery-powered forklifts is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A genuine self-starter with excellent planning and execution skills.
- Positive attitude and commitment to health and safety practices.
