The Health Sciences Lab Coordinator provides academic support and preparations of specific and sometimes complex labs for faculty and instructors allowing faculty and instructors to concentrate on academic delivery. The Health Sciences Lab Coordinator is an integral role responsible for supporting faculty and instructors in the healthcare and nursing departments by preparing and setting up laboratory activities. This position requires a detail-oriented and organized individual who can effectively manage lab resources and provide leadership and oversight of Health Sciences labs.

Reports to: Assistant to the Executive Dean

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution OR completed associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with two years of professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position.
  • Demonstrated experience in logistical coordination (i.e. supply management or scheduling/allocation of resources).
  • Demonstrated experience in inventory management.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge.  Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current credentialing in a health sciences discipline.
  • Two or more years of experience in logistical coordination (ex: supply management or scheduling/allocation of resources).
  • Two or more years of experience in inventory management.

Essential Functions 

  • Maintain a daily lab schedule and manage set-up and break-down of equipment, materials, supplies.
  • Ensure the lab is prepared with all of the course’s scheduled start time.
  • In collaboration with program department chairs, weekly, timely lab set-ups and weekly, timely cart assembly and disassembly after completion of labs, returning all lab equipment and supplies to the appropriate storage area, clean soiled items, and ensure clean bedding to all lab beds. (Coordination with simulation team for use of shared supplies, such as manikins and equipment)
  • In collaboration with program chairs, research and analyze new technologies that may support student learning experiences and outcomes.
  • Orient Faculty and Instructors to new lab equipment and software specific to lab procedures and needs.
  • Onboard, train, and supervise lab assistants to support in technical functions.
  • Facilitate tours and orientations of health sciences labs, as needed to promote programs.
  • Work with HS Program Departments and Simulation Team to ensure labs are running smoothly.
  • Maintain inventory on general lab supplies and identify shortages. Manage lab inventory needs for each lab course and ensure inventory is stocked.
  • Supply Management and Inventory:
    • Oversee the inventory of lab supplies, ensuring adequate stock for all classes.
    • Work with Program Support Specialists to provide information to order supplies. 
  • Clean, calibrate, and trouble shoot errors on lab equipment and other skills lab devices.
  • Assist with general cleaning of all labs to include bleaching all surfaces (e.g., tables, bedside tables, equipment and removing dirty linens for laundry service).
  • Replenish consumables and inspect furnishings for breakage and safety issues.
  • Coordinate and arrange for repairs to equipment.
  • Dispose of chemical wastes properly with basic understanding of chemical properties according to OSHA, EPA, and local laws.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
