The primary responsibility of the Assistant Director of High School Enrollment is to enhance access and enrollment of high school students at Pikes Peak State College’s concurrent enrollment programs. This role focuses on implementing best practices and innovative strategies to increase high school students' enrollment. The Assistant Director will work closely with the high school programs office in PPSC instructional services, community agencies, education advocates, and high school students and their families, to create pathways for high school students to engage in concurrent enrollment opportunities at PPSC.

The college offers the possibility for alternative work arrangements such as flexplace, remote work, or flextime scheduling upon completion of training and department needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution OR completed associate degree with two years of professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position OR four years professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position.
  • Two years of professional level experience in student services in higher education with demonstrated experience in recruitment and outreach operations.
  • Demonstrated experience using relevant higher education technology, social media, and messaging applications.
  • Demonstrated experience working with underrepresented student populations.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge.  Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in leadership or management.
  • Demonstrated experience building professional relationships with community partners, local high schools, students, and families.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Demonstrated experience developing and leading large-scale recruitment events.
  • Demonstrated experience using a higher education CRM like Ellucian Recruit CRM.

Essential Functions 

Strategic Leadership & Implementation

Activate best practices and approaches to increase high school students' access to PPSC. Lead the development and implementation of innovative strategies that enhance the visibility and accessibility of PPSC to high school students. This includes identifying and integrating successful industry practices, tailoring them to fit the unique needs of prospective PPSC concurrent enrollment students, and ensuring these practices are effectively communicated and adopted.

Implement and assess strategies to increase enrollment and retention of students participating in PPSC concurrent enrollment programs. Design and execute comprehensive plans aimed at boosting enrollment figures and improving retention rates among high school students in concurrent enrollment programs. Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies through data analysis and feedback from students and stakeholders, making necessary adjustments to optimize outcomes. 

Collaboration with Instructional Services

Maintain a strong relationship and work closely with the high school programs office in instructional services to ensure alignment of student services processes with high school programs’ operations. Share data and insights that allow for improvement of concurrent enrollment offerings and to best meet the needs of high school students in the PPSC service area.

Recruitment & Enrollment Efforts

Develop and conduct recruitment and enrollment efforts that intentionally connect underrepresented high school students and their families to concurrent enrollment opportunities. Create targeted outreach programs that address the specific barriers faced by students and their families. Tailor communication and resources to resonate with diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Enrollment Management Support

Assist with enrollment management, providing insights and support to optimize enrollment strategies. Refine enrollment strategies, using data-driven insights to inform decision-making. This includes analyzing trends, forecasting enrollment patterns, and identifying areas for improvement to meet enrollment goals. Performs data-informed analyses of the impact and performance of high school services. Conduct thorough evaluations of high school services, utilizing both quantitative data and qualitative feedback to assess their effectiveness. Use these insights to drive continuous improvement, ensuring that services remain relevant and effective in meeting the needs of students and the institution.

Community Engagement

Engage community agencies, like Peak Education, and education advocates in efforts to increase access, success, and retention of regional high school students. Build and maintain strong partnerships with community agencies and education advocates to create a network of support for high school students. Facilitate collaborative initiatives that enhance access to and success in concurrent enrollment by utilizing community resources and expertise to improve the student experience and increase success rates.

Other Admissions, Recruitment, and Enrollment Services Activities

Participates in Admissions, Recruitment, and Enrollment activities. Serves on college-wide teams and committees as requested. Attends pertinent professional development workshops/conferences. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Recruitment & Enrollment Expertise: In-depth knowledge of recruitment and enrollment methods and strategies.
  • Higher Education Knowledge: Familiarity with student services in higher education, with an emphasis on high school student recruitment and outreach tailored to diverse communities.
  • Policy Familiarity: Strong working knowledge of college and system policies and procedures specifically related to recruitment.
  • Community Engagement: Ability to build and maintain relationships with community agencies and education advocates.
  • Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work seamlessly both independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Technology Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with student information systems and customer relationship management systems. Daily proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to design, create, and maintain forms, reference materials, databases, and training resources. Proficiency with social media and messaging applications.
  • Project Management: Aptitude for effectively prioritizing and managing multiple projects, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality.
  • Location Flexibility: Willingness and ability to work at all four main PPSC locations (Centennial Campus, CHES, Downtown Campus, Rampart Range Campus) and in service area high schools.
