Regular Faculty work under the direction of their respective Associate Dean/Division Dean and are responsible for meeting all scheduled classes/labs/clinics and providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College and the Department Chair's approved course outline. Regular Faculty are also responsible for using teaching methods and media designed to reach students of varying educational and experiential backgrounds to allow each student the opportunity to master the objectives of the course.
Regular Faculty are required to serve a provisional period from the date of employment until the completion of employment under three consecutive full year regular contracts.
This position may require working in virtual, weekend, evening, or various campus locations. Successful candidate must be willing to teach concurrent enrollment both on PPSC campuses and in local area high schools.
The required teaching schedule is August to May. The required pay schedule is September to August.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed associate’s degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.
- Current certification as a Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) issued by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Inc. OR Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) issued by The Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA).
- Three years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a surgical technologist or Central Sterile Processing.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage time-sensitive responsibilities, including documentation, communication, and task completion in clinical or academic settings.
- Familiarity with systems used to track and report student or employee progress, such as: Trajecsys or other clinical documentation software.
- Demonstrated ability to support and engage with individuals from underrepresented populations.
Preferred Qualifications

Completed bachelor’s degree or higher in a health-related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.

Certified Surgical Technologist credentialed by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

Experience coordinating or overseeing clinical rotations, including communication with site representatives and student documentation tracking.

Involvement in programmatic compliance efforts such as accreditation, institutional assessment, or regulatory audits.

Experience using structured materials aligned with national standards (e.g., HSPA curriculum) to facilitate learning in technical or applied healthcare fields.

Completion of professional development related to employee or learner supervision, workplace instruction, or procedural training.

Essential Functions
Sterile Processing Program Faculty
Curriculum Development
- Collaborate with the Program Director and colleagues to maintain a curriculum aligned with accreditation standards and current industry practice.
- Contribute to the development and regular revision of course syllabi, integrating hands-on lab components and clearly defined objectives.
Course Material Preparation
- Prepare instructional content, including presentations, activity guides, and assessments that support student engagement and skill application.
- Incorporate industry-relevant case scenarios and current best practices into course materials.
Lab Setup and Equipment Acquisition
- Assist with planning, setup, and maintenance of the sterile processing lab to support student skill development.
- Identify and request equipment, instruments, and consumables in alignment with program needs and professional standards.
Teaching and Instruction
Lecture and Lab Sessions
- Deliver structured content that reinforces theoretical understanding and technical proficiency.
- Facilitate lab activities that support mastery of sterile processing procedures and protocols.
Student Assessment
- Develop quizzes, exams, skill evaluations, and other assessment tools that measure progress toward course objectives.
- Provide clear, timely, and constructive feedback to students, and ensure all grades and documentation are submitted in accordance with institutional deadlines.
Clinical Site Coordination
- Maintain regular communication with assigned clinical sites to support student scheduling, supervision, and documentation.
- Monitor student progress during clinical experiences and follow up on site concerns, evaluations, or attendance issues as needed.
Supervision and Mentorship
- Offer support and guidance to students during lab sessions and clinical rotations.
- Assist students with professional development questions related to employment, certification, or workplace readiness.
Program Policies and Procedures
- Assist with maintaining compliance with institutional, state, and accrediting body requirements through consistent adherence to policies.
- Participate in ongoing policy review and development within the program.
Instructional and Administrative Duties
