The Part-Time Test Administrator provides students, staff, faculty and the Pikes Peak community with support in delivering integrated testing services. This position provides testing services to include proctoring and administering placement testing, testing for PPSC courses, standardized and industry certification testing, CLEP and DSST testing, GED and ESL testing, and other tests determined to meet students’ needs. This position operates testing software, including online and computer-based testing, follows regulations and technical support, and ensures the academic integrity of testing. All responsibilities are designed to advance retention practices, graduation rates, and overall student success across the institution.

This is a temporary part-time hourly position, not to exceed 28 hours per week, in person. 

Essential Functions

  • Provides pre-test advising to students regarding the need for placement testing, including providing test preparation information.
  • Evaluates placement based upon documentation of academic preparation (college transcripts, high school transcripts, ACT scores, SAT scores, etc.) following state and institution defined guidelines.
  • Process and input transcripts, ACT, SAT, and other placement assessment scores into student’s records.
  • Administers and proctors placement tests, standardized tests, and PPSC course tests with knowledge of higher education testing procedures.
  • Maintains training and certification requirements to administer tests and ensure their integrity.
  • Interacts with students, the public, and co-workers in person, over the phone, through email, and remotely providing information on college enrollment process, testing services, advising services, and other student services.
  • Uses word processing and other software and computer programs to keep confidential records.
  • Assists students with scheduled appointments for all testing services offered by the Testing Center to include GED, CLEP, TEAS, and Pearson Vue exams.
  • Maintains exam computers, including troubleshooting IT related issues.
  • Assists and supports Advising & Testing operations to include intake of students, answering questions from students, staff, and faculty regarding departmental or instructional divisions to maintain compliance with institutional practices and procedures.
  • Updates internal and external documents and marketing materials.
  • Provides excellent customer service by answering phones, returning voicemails, and responding to emails in a timely manner.
  • Participates in training, assessment, and other A&T committees as needed.
  • Assists with special events, follow-up, and other service initiatives.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to provide equity based, culturally competent, efficient, and fair services.
  • Supports continuous assessment and improvement of processes affecting student enrollment and success metrics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution OR completed associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with two years of professional level experience.
  • Understanding of the mission and student population of an open-access institution.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic file management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience proctoring exams in a classroom or Testing Center setting.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working with a student information system such as Banner.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic computer problems with an understanding of basic network configurations and operation.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Access or the ability to obtain access, within one month of hire, to military installations to support military testing operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Cultural Competency: Strong understanding of and commitment to diversity and multiculturalism. Demonstrated evidence of applying these concepts effectively in the workplace.  
  • Customer Service: Ability to provide high-level customer service to individuals and groups in-person, over the phone, via email, and text-message through utilizing excellent communication and organizational skills.  
  • Higher Education Knowledge: Familiarity with student services in higher education, with knowledge of student development and learning theories.  
  • Teamwork and Independence: Ability to professionally and tactfully interact, communicate, establish rapport, and work collaboratively with a wide variety of constituents, including students, faculty, staff, and community members and organizations. Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.  
  • Technology Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with student information systems and customer relationship management systems. Utilization of technology to deliver testing services. Daily proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including designing, creating, and maintaining forms, reference materials, databases, and training resources.  
  • Project Management: Aptitude for effectively prioritizing and managing multiple projects, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality.  
  • Location and Hours Flexibility: Willing to work occasional evenings and Saturdays, and work at all PPSC campuses and other locations to accommodate programming needs

Must be a State of Colorado resident or able to relocate to Colorado prior to first date of employment.  All work must be performed in the State of Colorado.
