Our Nova underground operation (Ni-Cu-Co) is entering a pivotal phase, with approximately 18 months of full production remaining before transitioning to closure. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a high-performing, motivated team as we responsibly and safely bring this world class mine to a close.

We have a current opportunity for an experienced and passionate safety professional who thrives on understanding how work is truly done and driving improvements that make work safer and more effective.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with frontline teams to understand daily work challenges and identify practical safety improvements;
  • Collaborate across departments to enhance work practices and processes;
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Mine Safety Management System (MSMS);
  • Assist contract owners in aligning contractor activities with MSMS requirements;
  • Help line management understand and manage critical operational risks and controls;
  • Facilitate learning from safety incidents, both onsite and across the industry;
  • Mentor elected Health & Safety Representatives to be effective in their roles; and
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of safety performance data.

 

Your Experience

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to workplace safety, be an excellent communicator with strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills. You will also have the following:

  • Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety (minimum);
  • Strong technical knowledge of contemporary WHS practices;
  • Experience in heavy industry, ideally mining;
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship building skills;
  • Proficiency in MS Office and strong analytical/report writing capabilities;
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment;
  • Valid ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence; and
  • National Police Clearance (issued within the last 2 months).
