Our underground Nova operation (Ni-Cu-Co) is at a critical phase of its life cycle with approximately 18 months remaining of full production before going into care and maintenance and closure. We are seeking applications from Mining Engineers with underground experience for a Production Engineer role. This role is responsible for the production, communication and reconciliation of drill and blast, and other short term production plans through application of best practice processes to maximise value to the operation. This role is critical to ensuring timely implementation of operational activities.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, your key accountabilities will include:
Develop and implement weekly schedules for development, production and supporting activities to meet monthly targets.
Producing stope notes, drill designs and blast plans of a high standard allowing for safe and efficient extraction of ore;
Liaise with the mining contractor to ensure highest standards of ore extraction are achieved;
Contributing to the stope planning and design process;
Conducting quality assurance inspections of drilling and charging activities;
Completing stope performance reconciliations and identifying opportunities for improvement;
Drive schedule compliance thorough a strong understanding of upcoming activities and priorities; and
Conduct Visual safety leadership (VSL), System Verification Checks (SVC), Take 5s, Job Safety Environmental Analysis (JSEA) and/or risk assessments to identify hazards in the workplace, identify gaps between work as written and work as done and check if crucial controls are in place.
Your Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and an ability to engage with various stakeholders. You will also have the following:
Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering;
Completion of underground time to meet First Class Mine Manager requirements;
Experience logging and blasting of production shots - including i-kon (Orica) is desirable;
Full understanding of production cycle of large underground open stoping mine;
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels within the business;
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite and relevant mining software, including Deswik;
Dangerous Goods Security Card, valid ‘C’ class manual drivers’ licence; and
National Police Clearance obtained within the last two months.
