JOB SUMMARY

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences seeks applicants for a full-time position as an Educational Program Assistant 1 for the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences (https://hdfs.uconn.edu). Under the direction of the Educational Program Administrator, this position will provide programmatic and administrative support to the Department with a focus on the Department’s graduate program and the Child Development Labs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide administrative support for the Department’s graduate programs including but not limited to graduate admissions, orientation, milestone tracking, and fellowship payments.
  • Process Graduate Assistantship payroll transactions for academic year appointments and summer special payroll.
  • Assist with Department event planning, advertising, and management.
  • Assist with Departmental digital communications including newsletters and social media.
  • Process tuition billing, enrollments, and waitlist for the Child Development Labs.
  • Provide supervision for the Department’s student administrative assistants.
  • Process Student Labor payroll transactions for the Department, including those of the Child Development Labs.
  • Maintain accurate records, assemble data, and prepare statistical and/or historical reports as needed.
  • Organize and distribute mail, deliveries, and returns for the Department.
  • Assist with management of departmental space including room reservations, work order entry, and maintenance of physical and digital displays.
  • Provide general office support including answering phones, responding to inquiries, greeting and directing visitors, directing calls, and related tasks.
  • Perform other related work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
  2. One year of related experience
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  5. Demonstrated customer service skills.
  6. Proven ability to manage time in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience working in a higher education setting.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work independently and regularly exercise judgment regarding administrative detail and procedures.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
  4. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  5. Ability to engage, connect, and work with diverse student, administrative, and faculty populations and to demonstrate a commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in an educational setting.
