INTRODUCTION

The Department of Educational Psychology in the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut invites applications and nominations for a non-tenure track assistant or associate nine-month Clinical Faculty of School Psychology beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will join a dynamic program and department and will support the master’s/sixth year and doctoral school psychology programs. 

The highly productive Department of Educational Psychology offers graduate degrees in School Psychology; Special Education; Counselor Education; Giftedness, Creativity, and Talent Development; and Research Methods, Measurement and Evaluation. The mission of the school psychology program is to prepare scientist-practitioners whose professional interests involve children, families, and the educational process. The program orientation emphasizes integration of theory and research, stressing an empirically informed approach. There are currently 3 core faculty in the School Psychology programs. We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, and knowledgeable school psychology colleague to contribute to and advance our esteemed MA and Ph.D. programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will work with the School Psychology faculty to lead the NASP-approved master’s/6th year program and support the APA-accredited doctoral program, which are located at UConn’s main Storrs campus. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include teaching courses, directing internship and supporting clinical placements, advising master’s students, leading NASP accreditation processes, co-leading APA accreditation processes, admissions, pursuing extramural funding to support student training, and engagement with related Connecticut state organizations. The typical teaching load for a non-tenure track faculty position is 3:3.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Completed doctoral degree in School Psychology or related area, at time of appointment.
  2. Eligible to be credentialed as a Psychologist or School Psychologist in Connecticut.
  3. A record of teaching in a college/university setting.
  4. Experience with supervision of students engaged in clinical activities.  
  5. Relevant work experience in K-12 settings.
  6. Demonstrated effective communication, leadership, collaboration, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Completed doctoral degree in School Psychology.
  2. Licensure as a psychologist in Connecticut, or able to submit for licensure in Connecticut upon hire.
  3. Evidence of teaching for 2 or more semesters in a college/university setting.
  4. Demonstrated record of effective advising and clinical supervision.
  5. Leadership experience in the administration of a training program or in accreditation processes.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 9-month non-tenure track position with a 1-year appointment renewed annually. The anticipated start date is August 23, 2026. The successful candidate’s academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
