JOB SUMMARY

The Neag School of Education is seeking candidates for the position of Publicity/Marketing Coordinator within the Office of the Dean. The Coordinator assists in promotion, marketing activities, and special projects or services for the UConn Neag School of Education. This position also carries out publicity and marketing strategies for various events, workshops, and programs to engage Neag School of Education alumni, students, faculty, and staff. This position works under the limited supervision of the Neag School of Education’s Director of Communications and Digital Strategy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in planning and implementing marketing and promotional strategies. Serves as a resource to other staff regarding effective promotional strategies.
  • Designs, schedules, and produces brochures, posters, flyers, advertisements, and other informational and promotional materials.
  • Writes and edits copy for press releases, public service announcements, informational listings, and other publicity materials.
  • Maintains working relationships with members of the public media to promote coverage of department events. Assists with special media events designed to draw attention to departmental programs.
  • Maintains and updates mailing lists and other necessary records. Maintains files of promotional activities for each event and assists in evaluating the success of promotional and marketing campaigns.
  • Creates photo/video content to promote Neag School of Education events.
  • Promotes and fosters internal and external relations through social media platforms, email marketing communications, and other tactics with constituent groups and individuals.
  • Organizes and implements several Neag School of Education events.
  • Leads student employees as assigned.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
  2. Two to three years of experience in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.
  3. Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement marketing and promotional plans.
  5. Demonstrated attention to detail; ability to proofread and edit.
  6. Experience with social media platforms and utilization strategies.
  7. Experience with graphic design standards and practices.
  8. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and marketing automation software such as MailChimp.
  9. Demonstrated organization skills, experience taking initiative, working independently and accurately, exercising sound judgment when managing multiple projects simultaneously, and meeting deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Four to five years of experience in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.
  2. Demonstrated familiarity with photography and videography content creation.
  3. Demonstrated media relations knowledge.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of webpage design and management practices using Content Management Systems, such as WordPress.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, permanent, 12-month position with an anticipated start date in June 2026. Salary range is $57,505 to $74,756 and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
