JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Dining Services at the University of Connecticut has an opening for a Financial Assistant 2. Under the direction of the Finance Manager 2 or their appropriate designee, the Financial Assistant 2 will assist Business Operations with disbursement vouchers, credit memos and purchase requisitions. In addition, this position will process the annual resident meal plan uploads as required. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: maintain accounting records for the department, including billing, collections, and other disbursements. Verifies and enters details of transactions such as invoices, requisitions, meal plans and other disbursements. Reconciles the DDS Main Office's daily cash receipts, verifies and enters Catering invoices into the Kuali Financial System for the department. Updates the Catering alcohol log to easily track information required by the State Liquor Commission and helps provide data for state and non-state labor dollars. Tracks budget and/or forecast to actuals. Monitors catering billing for all events, including weddings, and is responsible for the collection of all department customer invoices and creating and/or updating the process. Prepares, maintains and/or creates departmental Excel spreadsheets for both catering and non-state payroll areas. Creates and/or updates process Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Catering billing/collections and accounts payable job duties. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  2. Two to three years of experience in accounting or financial record keeping.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  4. Organizational skills, including attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
  5. Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  6. Demonstrated experience prioritizing and scheduling workflow.
  7. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  8. Articulated commitment to, demonstrated understanding of, and/or experience working with diverse populations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience with Kuali Financial System.
  2. Experience with Husky Buy.
  3. Experience with Accounts Payable and/or billing.
  4. Experience with Collections.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

The salary range is $51,344 to $54,000. This is a full-time, permanent position.
