JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Operations and Facilities, the Manager of Operations & Facilities is responsible for the daily administrative and operational support of the Student Recreation Center and satellite recreational facilities. This position implements a wide variety of day-to-day responsibilities designed to ensure operational performance and provide quality service to members of the Student Recreation Center. The position is full-time, in-person, and on-campus. Weekend and evening work is required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Serve as Recreation Center Manager on Duty, ensuring program policy, maintenance, safety, and risk management standards are met.
  2. Provide supervisory support to student employees in the performance of their daily responsibilities, including the creation of a work schedule and the verification of hours worked.
  3. Provide logistical support for programmatic units with delivery of member services and provide leadership for assigned departmental programs and events.
  4. Assists in the training, onboarding, and evaluations of student employees. Evaluate student performance, providing annual written evaluations.
  5. Serve as a resource to individuals and groups on matters relating to policies and usage of the Student Recreation Center.
  6. Coordinate facility and equipment maintenance with internal and external constituents.
  7. Implement risk management policy and procedure for all facility activities.
  8. Instruct CPR/First Aid/AED classes for student employees and the UConn Community.
  9. Provide timely and accurate incident, accident, risk management, financial and maintenance reporting and maintain accurate and accessible records related to all facility operations.
  10. Support Assistant Program Director with collecting, compiling, and assessing facility data.
  11. Review operating procedures for efficiency and effectiveness, makes recommendations for changes or improvements.
  12. Work collaboratively with Human Resources to hire new student personnel.
  13. Maintain inventory for all facility equipment and operational resources.
  14. May transport student employees, equipment, and event materials as needed to on-campus and off-site locations using a university vehicle.
  15. Participates in various committees and advisory groups.
  16. Additional duties as requested by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Current First-Aid/CPR/AED Certification or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, stated commitment to, and/or experience working with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills necessary for effective work relationships.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Documented professional experience in facility and operations management.
  • Direct experience working in student or customer service.
  • Proficient with software applications related to department operations (e.g., Fusion, Connect2Concepts, SubItUp).
  • First-Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification or ability to acquire within 6 months.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

Incumbents may be required to operate a university vehicle and, as such, are required to have a driver's license and the ability to acquire a Passenger "A" endorsement or equivalent for this appointment.
