JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut Sports Performance Department is seeking applications for a full-time position of Assistant Strength & Conditioning coach to assist with the design and implementation of sports performance programs to enhance athletic performance, minimize injury potential and support our student-athletes and coaches in the pursuit of championships.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach must have the skills to independently design integrated scientific based training programs and demonstrate the ability to implement these programs in a safe, competitive, and disciplined environment that is both physically and mentally demanding.

The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach will be responsible for, but not limited to: providing facility supervision and report on both individual and team progress, as well as, any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Olympic Sport Performance; collaborating and assisting with current Sports Performance Staff and communicate with all support departments including Athletic Training/Sports Medicine/Sport Nutrition; travel and weekend hours; strict compliance with NCAA regulations and policies of the University and the program conference; assist teams with on campus recruiting efforts; and assist with supervisory responsibility of strength and conditioning interns.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in sport/exercise science related field.
  • Current Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS by the National Strength and Conditioning Association) or SCCC (from CSCCa).
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the correct application of NCAA regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with coaching staffs and Sports Medicine staff.
  • Minimum 3 years of full-time experience independently programming and conducting training sessions for sport-specific teams at the collegiate level.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach.
  • USA Weight Lifting Level 1 (USAW1) certification.
  • Experience in the use of Force Plates, VBT assessment tools, wearable technology.
  • Possesses student-athlete development philosophies consistent with that of the Division of Athletics and its sports performance program.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
