JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut is seeking applications for the full-time position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will include: day-to-day sports medicine/athletic training operations for women’s volleyball and other assigned teams, to include prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes; pre-participation physicals; inventory management of supplies and equipment; maintaining medical records; completing required insurance claims; daily interaction and communication with coaching staff, fellow athletic trainers, and administration; attending team practices and events; supervision of clinical and field experience for athletic training students;  other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of NCAA regulations.
  • Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
  • Connecticut Athletic Trainer State license or eligible to receive.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One to three years of athletic training experience at the collegiate level.
  • Previous experience in the supervision of athletic trainers.
  • Experience working independently with a collegiate sport.
  • Extensive collaboration and communication with team physicians and coaches.
  • Experience as a preceptor for MSAT immersion students.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

Salary is commensurate with experience.
