JOB SUMMARY

The position will work as a member of the Marketing & Fan Engagement unit, responsible for assisting in all aspects of marketing and digital media for select teams, the Department and for other areas as assigned.

The Assistant Director of Marketing and Digital Media will be a self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, think strategically and have a passion for ideation, innovation and creativity. Additionally, the selected individual will independently work with select teams to develop marketing and promotional plans to enhance or increase attendance, program brand awareness, fan experience and revenue generation. The individual will possess highly effective communication and organization skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. This position will require flexible and irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Assistant AD of Marketing & Fan Engagement with the overall digital marketing and advertising strategy of UConn Athletics.
  • Develop and execute email marketing campaigns, newsletters, and targeted communications through Eloqua to support revenue initiatives, strategic marketing efforts, and fan engagement.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report digital marketing performance, providing data-driven insights and recommendations to optimize campaign effectiveness while leveraging emerging technologies and industry trends. Lead the development, implementation, and analysis of fan surveys to measure engagement and satisfaction, providing actionable insights to improve marketing strategies, fan experience, and organizational decision-making. Support the development and execution of marketing, branding, and promotional strategies for assigned sports programs with the goal of driving attendance, enhancing brand visibility, and generating revenue.
  • Develop and oversee game presentation scripts, coordinating music, videoboard content, public address announcements, spirit squads, and other entertainment elements to deliver an engaging and memorable fan experience.
  • Supervise game day personnel, including interns, public address announcers, music operators, and spirit squads. Coordinate timing and communication with all event staff to ensure seamless execution of game presentation elements and fulfillment of sponsorship obligations throughout each event.
  • Collaborate with UConn Athletics' multimedia rights partner, Learfield, to execute contractual sponsorship activations, promotional initiatives, and game day elements.
  • Foster strong cross-functional partnerships with internal stakeholders to coordinate marketing efforts, share information, and support departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Manage assigned marketing budgets and ensure effective allocation of resources in support of departmental goals.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, management, communication, public relations, sports management, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of related experience with at least one year of experience within an intercollegiate athletics or professional sports organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable NCAA regulations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in business, marketing, management, communication, public relations, sports management or a related field.
  • Minimum of one to two years of sports marketing experience in an NCAA collegiate athletic department.
  • Proficiency in the use of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to produce digital content necessary for social media and videoboard.
  • Experience with Click Effects.
  • Experience with Falcon.
  • Experience with SIDEARM.
  • Experience working with student reward app programs.
  • Experience organizing Kids Club programs.
  • Possesses marketing philosophies consistent with that of the Division of Athletics and its marketing department.
