JOB SUMMARY

Working under the supervision of the CT National Estuarine Research Reserve (CTNERR), the CTNERR Financial Assistant is a part-time position (50% FTE, 17.5 hours per week) that will help provide financial and program support for the administration and operation of the CT National Estuarine Research Reserve.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with creating and maintaining salary forecasts for CTNERR staff
• Schedule payroll authorizations (PAs) for submittal to UConn Payroll and maintain PA records
• Organize and track grant related cost-transfer requests
• Create and maintain grant award effort reporting/commitment changes
• Assist in generating grant-related financial reports and assembling data for distribution to CTNERR staff and others
• Perform other related work as assigned (e.g., inventory control, purchasing assistance, etc.)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Associate’s degree in a financial field and at least two years of related experience with payroll and financial tracking and reporting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office software (specifically Excel) or similar spreadsheet software.
3. Experience with state or federal grant funding.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s degree in financial field.
2. Experience interpreting and applying grant policies and procedures.
3. Experience working in a college, university, or public service role.
4. Knowledge of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) or US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) grant funding programs.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a part-time, end-dated position with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and funding. The University offers a competitive salary, and outstanding benefits, including employee and dependent tuition waivers at UConn, and a highly desirable work environment.

This position is based at the Avery Point campus. The full-time, annualized salary range is $56,000 to $62,000 (prorated to $28,000 to $31,000 for 50% appointment). 

Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
