A Postdoctoral Associate position is is sought for the laboratory of Dr. Jia-Ray Yu, located at the Virginia Tech research facilities in the newly established Research & Innovation Campus of Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC. We are interested in the fundamental mechanisms of how epigenetic and chromatin dysregulation contribute to the oncogenic states in cancer (Lee and Yu et al, Mol Cell; Lee and Yu et al, G&D; Yu et al, G&D; Yu et al, Sci Adv). Our approach integrates biochemical & reconstituted systems, mass-spectrometry, next-generation sequencing, and molecular/cell biology tools.
Postdoctoral trainees will have opportunities to work with interdisciplinary research groups with expertise in chemical biology, structural biology, single-molecule imaging, or preclinical animal models from Virginia Tech, Children’s National, and institutions within the metro Washington DC area, such as the NIH. The lab supports postdoctoral trainees for having a healthy work and life balance in the culturally vibrant metro Washington DC area.
- PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, bioengineering, genetics, molecular biology, cell biology, cancer biology or broadly related fields awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
- Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques such as cloning, basic molecular/cell biology and tissue culture techniques.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and team skills.
- Highly motivated and creative.
- Experience in protein purification, biochemical assays, or human pluripotent/neural stem cell culture.

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check as well as documentation of COVID-19 vaccination or receive approval from the university for a vaccination exemption due to a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief.
