The Travel and Events Assistant provides administrative and program support to the Travel and Events Manager, and general office support. Responsibilities include independently and accurately processing a high volume of college fair and panel invitations, database management, preparing and shipping recruitment materials in a timely manner, assisting with the scheduling of staff and student workers for large events and daily visits, providing program support for all major public events including preparing registration materials, program setup and providing support the day of the program, and serving as point of contact and day-of support for group visits. Occasional evening and weekend work required.
*Administrative and/or customer service experience in an academic or professional office environment.
*Experience with computer functions such as data entry and word processing using software such as Microsoft Office.
*Ability to prioritize tasks, and handle mass mailings and filing.
*Strong organizational skills, and ability to work independently with careful attention to detail.
*Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
*Must be dependable, approachable, and present a professional image in representing the university to prospective families and university staff members.
*Strong multitasking, organizational, project management, and problem solving skills.
*Must possess the ability to be flexible, and quickly and smoothly handle unanticipated changes and needs.
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
*Must be able to safely move and handle items weighing up to 40 pounds.
*Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
*Experience with event planning support such as preparing registration materials and event setup.
*Working knowledge of Slate.
Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime
Anticipated starting salary of $35,000 to $38,000
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
