Job Description

Provides primary support to the Large Animal Clinic's patient receiving and admissions office. Receives all incoming calls for Equine Field Service, Production Management Medicine Service and In-house Medicine and Surgery Services. Schedules appointments/farm calls for all services. Greets clients and notifies clinicians/technicians/students of patient arrival or impending departure. Monitors response time to client from clinician, clinician ""call backs"", and acts as a liaison for clinicians and clients when necessary. Maintains all office equipment, existing and new computer systems and software, including database programs. Provides fiscal support to the VTH through the collection of revenues. Insures compliance with VTH financial policy through audit of all fees, processing of medical records for discharge,
closing invoices, receiving payments, computer data entry into the VTH accounting system, delivering high quality customer service to both clients and staff.

Required Qualifications

Previous experience in detailed financial record keeping, file management, data entry, auditing, and/or cash handling as a cashier or bank teller.; experience operating a multiline telephone and the ability to accurately document information is essential; previous experience in working with the public; basic computer skills including experience using email, spreadsheets and databases; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain composure in emergency situations and act accordingly; ability to receive and carry out moderately complex verbal and written instructions; ability to multitask and work under pressure with
strict deadlines; Valid Virginia Drivers License required.

Preferred Qualifications

AAS or BS in Accounting or related field; courses in Veterinary Technology, Animal Science or Animal Husbandry; training and experience using various computer software programs to include Word, Excel, and Outlook. working knowledge of medical terminology, veterinary medical and surgical procedures, large animal anatomy and a general understanding of all large animals (horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, alpacas and llamas), to include their uses, breeds and common language associated with each.
