Job Description

The Sous Chefs for Perry Place and West End Market play a pivotal role in the daily operations of the Perry Place and West End Market kitchens, working under the guidance of the Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisine. Responsibilities encompass various aspects, including food procurement, menu execution, staff relations, safety and sanitation, and equipment maintenance. The primary goal of the Sous Chef is to support food production to ensure recipes and food preparations adhere to the highest standards. Additionally, ensure that all policies and procedures are meticulously followed and that the dining facility maintains a high level of customer service at all times, and assists with any other assigned duties by the Assistant Director, Executive Chef, or Chef de Cuisine.

Required Qualifications

• Certification in nutrition, hospitality management, culinary training, and/or bakery training or equivalent experience.
• Substantial experience in commercial kitchen and food service operations, including menu planning, automated food ordering, food preparation, pricing, merchandising, and presentation.
• Previous experience in supervising and managing a high-volume food service establishment with a diverse menu.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to handle employee relations, training, and performance evaluations.
• Proficiency in food safety regulations, including HACCP and ServeSafe.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Flexibility to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and sanitation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of computers, including Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and automated food inventory systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Eligibility for Certified Chef de Cuisine (C.C.C.) or Certified Sous Chef (C.S.C.) through the American Culinary Federation (ACF) and obtained within 12 months of hire.
• ServSafe certification and HACCP certification desired.

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check and a driving check with a safe driving record.

There are two positions available.  One position is with Perry Place and the other is with West End Market.
