Job Description

The Extension Area Specialized Agent for Community Health will serve as a key member of the Extension team, working to deliver evidence-based education, developing health program partnerships/collaboration, and support services to communities in the Southwest District. This position will work broadly in Community Health and will collaborate with a variety of subject matter specialists, non-Extension faculty, VCE program teams, other Area Specialized Agents, and current Extension Agents to address health related issues. The position will work in concert with the Deputy State Program Leader, Community Engaged Health. This position will support Extension Agents in the district to provide high-quality community health educational programs. The position will have dual reporting lines to the VCE District Director and the Associate Director, Youth, Families, and Health. This position will be responsible for conducting needs assessments, developing and implementing educational programs, and providing technical assistance and consultation to community partners and Extension colleagues.

Required Qualifications

- Master's degree in public health, health education, or a closely related field.

- Five or more years of experience working in community health education, Cooperative Extension, or related field.

-Knowledge of evidence-based public health strategies and practices.

-Strong experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.

-Experience working effectively with Extension Agents and Specialists, community partners, stakeholders, and diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

-Grant development and management experience

-Excellent written and oral communication skills.

-Strong organizational and project management skills.

-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

-Experience as an Extension Agent.

-Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other technology tools.
