Job Description

Applications are invited for a full-time lab manager position in the lab of Dr. Chloe Hudson, in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech. The lab studies social and metacognition (sometimes referred to as theory of mind or mentalization) using transdiagnostic and dimensional approaches. We combine clinical and cognitive-affective methods and sophisticated statistical analysis techniques (multilevel and structural equation modeling) to examine how social and metacognitive processes are implicated in mental illness, psychotherapy, and interpersonal functioning.


The individual who fills this position will be involved in all aspects of the research process and duties related to launching a new research lab, including (but not limited to):


• Establishing lab infrastructure, such as study protocols and lab resources (website, manuals, standard operating procedures, documentation), and coordinating daily lab operations
• Collecting, entering, managing, and ensuring quality participant data • Recruiting, screening, scheduling, consenting, and running participants through study protocols
• Supervising undergraduate research assistants
• Assisting with IRB management, grant applications, data processing and analysis, and manuscript preparation

Required Qualifications

1) BA/BS in cognitive science, psychology, or related field.
2) One year of human subjects research experience.
3) Demonstrated organizational, time-management, interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills; and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

1) Demonstrated ability to work with data programs (e.g., R, REDCap).
2) Experience conducting diagnostic interviews.
