Job Description

VT GPS is a SCHEV-funded initiative that will enhance educational opportunity, access and degree completion for low-income students in all Virginia Tech majors. The major programmatic elements of VT GPS are (1) Go to College; (2) Pathways to STEM Success; and (3) Summer Start. The Coordinator will inform prospective students and their families about post-secondary education opportunities; help prepare students for a smooth high school-to-college transition; advocate for Pell-eligible students participating in the VT GPS initiative, and gather data and assist with VT GPS evaluation. This position reports to the Associate Vice Provost for College Access. Telecommuting and hybrid working arrangements are available.

Required Qualifications

 Bachelor’s degree
 Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
 Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
 Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work in a team-oriented environment
 Ability to work with multiple constituents throughout the state and region
 Experience working with underrepresented and underserved student populations and their families
 Travel and the ability to work some evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

 Experience with student success and retention strategies
 Familiarity with federal financial aid programs
 Basic data analysis skills
