Job Description

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is accepting applications for the role of Senior Associate Director of Recruitment. Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the Senior Associate Director of Recruitment plays a critical senior-level leadership role within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, managing a talented staff of approximately 15 admissions counselors and directors and a Travel and Events Manager who plan, implement and administer programs and initiatives designed to target, recruit, admit, and retain students in undergraduate degree programs.

Key responsibilities include:
* Supervising a recruitment team of approximately 15 admissions counselors and directors who are responsible for application review, territory management, the daily visitor experience, large-scale event coordination and specialized programming, as well as supervising the Travel and Events Manager.
*Developing an innovative recruitment strategy, including the implementation of a student search strategy, to support university goals of attracting and retaining an academically talented and diverse student population.
*Providing oversight and additional context as needed to transfer and international recruitment efforts led by specialized directors within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
*Serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, which includes attending weekly Senior Staff meetings and contributing as a key decision maker.
*Creating an annual territory management strategy with the Travel and Events Manager that utilizes historical application data to inform travel for the recruitment staff.
*Advertising and coordinating the local on-site admissions program for the New River and Roanoke Valleys.
*Reporting updates related to application trends, travel, events, and general recruitment activities, including contributing to the annual Undergraduate Admissions report.
*Advising prospective undergraduate students and families regarding undergraduate educational opportunities, admissions procedures, transfer of credit, financial assistance and programs, university policies, entrance requirements, via phone, email and in-person correspondence.
*Coordinating and conducting analysis for the purposes of program assessment, policy assessment, researching best practices, forecasting enrollment trends, and yield management.
*Developing and maintaining close working relationships with key secondary school contacts within an assigned territory.
*Assisting with short and long-term strategic planning and implementation of recruitment programs and activities, marketing plans, technology, and office goals that encompass the recruitment of first-year, transfer, international, and underrepresented students.
*Planning and executing a recruitment travel plan for an assigned territory, which includes presentations at high schools and other community settings and serving as a resource at various college fairs or panels.
*Assisting with the review of first-year applications for admission independently and as a committee member.


Required Qualifications

*Master's degree
*Several years of service in the college admissions field
Strong communication skills
*Supervisory experience of a team of admissions professionals
*Experience in a public higher education setting
*Experience working with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to increasing underrepresented student enrollment
*A demonstrated ability of attentiveness to detail, being well-organized, and managing multiple priorities
*Experience in handling high-pressure situations
*Must be willing to work a schedule that includes frequent evenings, weekends, holidays, and out of town travel
*A valid driver's license is required
*Must also be able to lift at least 40 pounds independently.
