Job Description

The Undergraduate Student Support Specialist is a member of the Undergraduate Academic Affairs Office (UAAO) in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences (CLAHS). This role works with the team on a variety of areas supported by UAAO including but not limited to student advising, enrollment services, student transactions, student recruitment, and scholarship management. This position also serves as the Receptionist for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences building.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Scholarship management
  • Coordinate the electronic form process
  • Perform student academic transactions, including changes of majors, course withdrawals, and additions to course schedules such as independent studies and undergraduate research.
  • Administrative support to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and other UAAO team members as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Administrative experience in an academic or professional office environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software and web-based administrative systems.
  • Experience with database management, word processing, creating presentations, email and calendar management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  • Experience working in a customer service focused environment.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team oriented, fast paced environment, and interact respectfully and comfortably with all individuals in a diverse, multicultural environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of academic and business policies and procedures of the college and university.
  • Experience with scholarship award management within the university.
  • Knowledge of electronic form processes.
  • Considerable computer knowledge including BANNER, Scholarship Central, Navigate, Slate, or other databases. 
  • Experience in fiscal processes.
