To support the College of Veterinary Medicine curriculum which is designed using the Multidiscipline Laboratory (MDL) concept where a central staff provides support and technical assistance for student labs. This position provides primary coordination and support for DVM curricular courses involving a variety of subject matter such as small animal restraint techniques and physical exam, anesthesia, operating room procedures, dentistry, surgery, emergency medicine, clinical pathology, pharmacology, etc.
Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT); Knowledge and experience in general laboratory operations and equipment. Experience with small animal general anesthesia and operating room procedures. Knowledge of animal (large & small) handling and restraint techniques. Familiarity with veterinary terminology as related to techniques and surgery. Ability to work efficiently and to organize equipment/supplies and work without supervision required and experience in these areas. Ability to prioritize and coordinate several tasks at once, follow through on responsibilities such as equipment repairs and maintenance requests and handle detailed paperwork including accurate inventory listings required. Knowledge of computers with emphasis on word processing and simple spread sheets.
Degree/coursework in Biology, Animal Science, Veterinary Technology or related area. Previous experience with teaching and/or training veterinary professionals.
Previous teaching lab assistance/support experience.
Salary: Starting at $42,000; to commensurate with experience
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
