Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Studios Media & Lending Services, working with the Studios Technology Specialist, the Lending Desk Specialist maintains, orders, and makes available for borrowing technology and equipment accessories, including but not limited to laptops, projectors, cameras, light kits, robotics kits, drones, and video game consoles. This position assists users with checking equipment in and out of the Studios Technology Lending Desk during assigned hours to ensure that library patrons receive prompt and courteous service. This position: performs database functions on item screens and patron accounts in booking management software; enforces policies regarding circulation policies and procedures; supervises student assistants; monitors the studio during shifts; and serves as a studio contact for library patrons and employees. Looks for maintenance issues, emergency situations, security violations, and disruptive behavior, and reporting problems to the appropriate areas.

Required Qualifications

-Experience working in a public service capacity and with working with a wide range of -individuals.
-Demonstrated ability to or experience in troubleshooting and maintaining electronic equipment.
-Knowledge of cameras, VR headsets, laptops, and iPads, and the ability to identify key components of each.
-Experience answering emails and phone calls at a public service point.
-Experience in interpreting and explaining policies and procedures to customers.
-Experience in directing and/or supervising the work of others.

Preferred Qualifications

-Bachelor’s Degree
-Knowledge of the research library environment.
-Knowledge of photo, video, and other media hardware and software.
-Demonstrated ability to understand and support emerging technologies and hardware.
-Proven ability to organize physical spaces and manage logistics of a large number of physical items.
