HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ROLE:

You will be…

• Joining the Student Affairs Finance and Planning (F&P) team; a department centered on providing strong fiscal support to its associated operational units while fostering open communication with internal and external customers.

• Reporting to a member of the management team in F&P in a regular twelve-month, staff appointment. 

• Working collaboratively with the F&P team and its associated operational units to perform various types of duties like reconciling accounts, processing invoices, conducting internal audits, fulfilling procurement requests, and generating/distributing reports.

• Operating various computer systems, platforms, and networks.

• Communicating with internal and external customers to foster productive working relationships, meet deadlines, and cultivate a culture of compliance and financial stewardship; contact customers with delinquent accounts to urge prompt payments.

• Producing work, independently and within a team, that is detail and quality driven, as well as, action and solution-focused.

• You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.

• Offered a base compensation package between $45,000-$52,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications

•  Associate's degree in Accounting or related field, or, equivalent years of relevant experience.
•  Previous professional experience with:
       -Data entry
       -The generation and distribution of financial reports
       -Cash handling
       -Maintaining confidential materials
       -Customer service
       -Exercising strong interpersonal communication skills, written and verbal

•  Proficiency in using various office software programs including Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

 

•  Previous professional experience with:
       -Performing monthly reconciliations
       -Departmental internal audits and compliance reviews
       -Accounts receivable experience
       -Handling delinquent accounts and collections
       -Processing accounting transactions and journal entries
       -Providing fiscal and/or administrative support in an academic setting
       -University funds handling policies and procedures

•  Proficiency in using various software programs such as Banner Accounts Receivable & Finance, Event Management System, and QuickBooks, or, similar programs.
