Job Description

The Laboratory for Neurotrauma Research, located within the Life Science I building/Center for Neurotrauma, is looking for a suitable, highly motivated person to work as a Research Assistant. This position is ideally suited to someone with a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, biology, or another related field and who has previous experience or willingness to learn basic biochemical assays (i.e., western blotting, immunohistochemistry, PCR/genotyping, and cryosectioning), animal handling and non-biased stereology. Day-to-day work will be under the supervision of Dr. Michelle Theus, Principal Investigator (PI), although some degree of independence is expected. An enthusiasm for neuroscience/Biomedical research and a willingness to work/exchange ideas with others in the laboratory setting is required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of related laboratory experience as paid or as part of undergraduate research credit. Preference is given to those with degrees in Neuroscience. *An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated proficiency in western blotting, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and genotyping
