Provide administrative, fiscal and program support for a group of faculty and graduate students within Mechanical Engineering, to include purchasing, travel arrangements and reimbursements, financial management, sponsored project administration, and other general administrative duties. This position provides backup and assistance to other team members, participates in an active training and professional development program, and coordinates, plans, and assist with the department meetings/events.
Experience providing administrative support in a professional or academic setting; |Proficient with various computer software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; |Ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures; |Skilled in problem solving and detailed oriented; |Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills; |Must be willing and able to work cooperatively in a team atmosphere and have a positive customer service attitude.
Experience with university policies and procedures; |Experience with Banner and HokieMart; |Experience with sponsored program administration; |Working knowledge of higher education business practices; experience working with accounting and or finance
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
