Job Description

In collaboration with Human Resources functional leaders and reporting to the Senior Director of HR Technology and Analytics, the Process Improvement Specialist serves as a strategic member of the HR Technology and Analytics team. The role provides input and guidance on all aspects of HR information systems to insure a full service, integrated information services function for Virginia Tech.

The Process Improvement Specialist will engage with stakeholders to support deployment of talent management systems and processes by developing training, standards, and resources for Human Resources professionals in recruiting, staffing, classification, compensation, and employee relations. They will be responsible for gathering requirements, working with technical and subject matter expert teams, and ensuring that technical solutions meet business requirements.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Identify and implement systems and processes designed to enhance and further promote operational efficiencies.
• Engage in collaborative projects from conception, through execution, to successful completion and implementation, achieving stated goals, objectives, and deliverables.
• Analyze HR business processes for continuous improvement of customer service, quality of operations, and dependability.
• Support quality control initiatives by designing or developing reports and documentation reducing redundancy of work and ensuring data integrity.
• Ensure institutional and regulatory security directives are incorporated into business processes to protect systems, data, and institutional information.
• Serve as a project manager on process improvement and change management initiatives as required.

Required Qualifications

• Advanced degree or Bachelor’s degree with experience and/certifications equivalent to an advanced degree.
• Demonstrated experience utilizing human resources principles and practices or similar administrative processes.
• Proven ability to work in a cooperative, agile, team-based environment.
• Background in developing best practices for sharing technical and/or training procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated experience leading business process improvement initiatives within a large organization through examination and reengineering of operations and procedures and implementing new strategies..

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with HR technology and related management technologies.
• Experience in training users, creating user documentation, or in project management.
• Knowledge of project management tools and methodologies.
• Experience in launching and supporting enterprise-wide software solutions.
• Experience in process improvement efforts in areas such as, but not limited to, Lean, Six Sigma, and TQM.
