Job Description

Reporting to the Director of International Programs for Pamplin College of Business, the Assistant Director will serve as a full-time, calendar-year administrative/professional faculty member. This role focuses on the day-to-day management and operations of global opportunities, including faculty-led programs, third-party and partnership programs, student exchanges, and international internships. The Assistant Director will support faculty with program proposals, budgeting, and marketing, advising students on global opportunities, and assisting the Director with ongoing projects and initiatives as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage daily operations and organize global opportunities such as study abroad programs and international internships
• Advise students on global programs, transfer credits, and international minors
• Assist with proposals, budgeting, and marketing for international programs
• Recruit faculty and students to participate in study abroad programs and global opportunities
• Supervise and train study abroad staff, providing performance evaluations and development opportunities
• Collaborate with stakeholders within Pamplin and across the university to promote international programs
• Ability to work outside standard hours (early mornings, evenings, weekends) and to travel internationally as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, higher education, or related field; or equivalent level of experience/training.
• Professional experience related to study abroad program support and/or academic advising, with a knowledge of relevant policies and software
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating strategic thinking, sound judgment, and adaptability
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality (following FERPA guidelines)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in business, higher education, or related field
• International experience
• Experience marketing global programs and opportunities
• Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating new programs and processes.
• In-depth understanding of university services, policies, and procedures, as well as registration and advising processes
• Familiarity with joint international programs
• Knowledge of curriculum mapping
• Experience in supervising staff
• Active membership in NAFSA or a related international education organization
