Job Description

The Area Specialized Extension Agent for Community Resource Development is responsible for providing leadership, guidance and expertise to community leaders, stakeholders and Extension agents Central District. The ASA will be housed in the VCE-Central District Office and will provide services throughout the 20 counties and independent cities within the district. The ASA will work closely with Extension agents and specialists in delivering educational programming that addresses community development needs, such as leadership, facilitation, collaborative problem solving, conflict resolution, building community capacity, sustainability, and other needs as identified in collaboration with Extension agents, Unit Coordinators, and the communities they serve. This position will play a key role in enhancing citizens’ tools to make informed choices to balance a strong economy, clean environment, and a healthy population. The ASA will emphasize positive results driven outcomes and impact, with meaningful practice change brought about in communities and clientele.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in leadership, community development, or a relevant field.

Five or more years of experience working in community resource development, Cooperative Extension, or related field.

Strong knowledge of facilitation, leadership, and community engagement.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong presentation skills.

Experience working collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including government entities, businesses, community organizations, and/or Extension agents and staff.

Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, facilitate, teach, and evaluate educational programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong knowledge of community leadership and facilitation.

Experience as an Extension Agent.

Knowledge and use of computer technology in educational programming and management.
