Job Description

The Department of Political Science seeks to hire a responsible and creative Graduate Coordinator. This individual will work independently to administer and manage the Department’s On-Campus and On-Line graduate programs under the supervision of the Director of Graduate Studies.  The primary duties of this position are to: advise graduate students in program; maintain and update graduate student files; process administrative forms; explain graduate policies and procedures to students and faculty. In addition this position plays a crucial role in facilitating marketing and public relations efforts for the programs within Political Science by updating the website, overseeing social media postings, and creating marketing materials for graduate classes.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
  • Effective verbal, proven effective written and electronic communication skills including strong editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience with social media and website management
  • Experience with current office software for word processing, spreadsheets, email, calendars, and databases
  • Ability to coordinate events
  • Ability to understand and apply policies and procedures
  • Experience dealing with confidential information
  • Working knowledge/expertise of graduate program policies in higher education
  • Ability to work collaboratively, meet deadlines and set work priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an academic department or center
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures
  • Experience with a large relational database such as Banner, Slate
  • Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating logistics
  • Experience with course management systems such as Canvas
  • Experience with website maintenance in platforms such as WordPress or Wix
  • Experience with Scholarship Central
