Job Description

We’re currently searching for an Financial Specialist to join our Student Affairs Finance team in Blacksburg, VA, to help support the programs and services of Student Affairs. HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ROLE:
You’ll be…
1. Joining the Accounts Receivable team within Student Affairs Finance.
2. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% staff appointment. 
3. Responsible for all department payments, reconciliation, and auditing. This means your day-to-day will include duties such as financial analysis of incoming bills, preparation and maintenance of financial data via spreadsheets or financially specific databases systems, and, preparation of bank deposit slips.
4. Tasked with sporadic, as-needed, functions like RFP preparation for the VT Foundation, provide training to new hires on various activities, and serve as the primary backup for the Cash Office.
5. Have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
6. Offered a base compensation package between $48,000-$55,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

 

Required Qualifications

- Associate's Degree and/or equivalent training and experience in finance, accounting or related area.
- Experience processing reports, spreadsheets, purchase requisitions, accounts receivable billing.
- Experience with automated finance and purchasing systems (i.e. Banner and HokieMart/EVa). Proven background exercising standard office  communications and procedures; and excellent customer service with effective communication.
- Knowledge of accounting usage of a Chart of Accounts.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field.
- Experience working in Finance at a university.
- Experience working in a university setting.
- Experience working in Banner and Microstrategy.
